Snowy Owl taken at Boundary Bay, BC, Canada. The Bird was transitioning through a feather ruffle after grooming. Shot with a Canon 1D Mk IV, a 600mm lens and a doubler for an equivalent 888mm length. On this day at the Bay, there was easily 16 Owls within range of my lens, more in the distance.
Northern Harrier (in North America) is a bird of prey. It breeds throughout the northern parts of the northern hemisphere in Canada and the northernmost USA, and in northern Eurasia. This species is polytypic, with two subspecies. Marsh Hawk is a historical name for the American form.[2]
