Snowy Owl in flight over the mnarshes at Boundary Bay. Needs some clouds doesn't it?
Snowy Owl perching in the Boundary Bay marshes. These birds have been absesnt from this area for the past 5 or 6 years, but thave come back in force this year, as their traditional food source in the Arctic crashed this year. We expect they will stay in the area for at least the next two months. Food here is plentiful and we get very little snow in this area in the winter. Yes the white blob in the image is bothersome, but i'm a purist, no modifications.
Snowy Owl taken at Boundary Bay, BC, Canada. The Bird was transitioning through a feather ruffle after grooming. Shot with a Canon 1D Mk IV, a 600mm lens and a doubler for an equivalent 888mm length. On this day at the Bay, there was easily 16 Owls within range of my lens, more in the distance.
